Book not Nook

Give me pages
Not cages

Paper
Not plastic vapor

Then not now
Present wrapped in past

I yearn for dog ears
Ink stains
Pencil grains

Words moving slowly
Like rain
Not illogically like bloody stain

At behest of
Some executive device
Lost even on mice

I opt for touching
The cover with both hands
Like Catholic priest the bible at mass

Not on command like
Lowly soldier in tangled grass
